About Us
Founding
Alpha Chi Sigma Fraternity was founded at the University of Wisconsin at Madison in December 11, 1902 by a group of undergraduates who were fellow students in chemistry at that time.
The Beta Gamma Chapter of Alpha Chi Sigma was founded at UCLA on March 30, 1935. Since then, three members of the Beta Gamma chapter have received the nobel prize for their outstanding contribution to the chemical profession: Glenn T. Seaborg, Robert B. Merrifield, Richard F. Heck.
Glenn T Seaborg Banquet
Alpha Chi Sigma maintains close ties with the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and is responsible for hosting and sponsoring the annual Glenn T. Seaborg Banquet and award. It is given to annually early career faculty who we believes showcases the excellence in education and research that Seaborg himself embodied.
Professional & Social Balance
At Alpha Chi Sigma, our members partake in a variety of both professional and social activites. On the professional side, we host tutoring sessions, resume workshops, professor talks, and more. Our socials have consisted of everything from beach days to pottery making to hiking to trying to find the best LA eats.
